LYNDHURST — The school board’s decision not to rehire a high school guidance counselor and replace her with a less qualified applicant with ties to the district, was “politically motivated,” ruled an administrative law judge.
Judge Anthony Tiscornia ordered the board to reinstate Jaime Truncellito as the high school guidance counselor at an adjusted salary and pay her for the 2018-19 school year, when she was not on the job.
The order heads to the state education commissioner for approval.
“The decision by these board members was not motivated by concerns regarding any budget shortfalls,” [Judge] Tiscornia stated, “the decision was purely motivated by an interest to employ Lyndhurst residents.”
